Distributed production is no longer defined by a single control room. Reporters are in the field, content is contributed from anywhere, and editorial teams collaborate across locations – while audiences still expect coverage in real-time.

In many live production workflows, editors face delays because content can be accessed quickly, but it isn’t fully usable. Files may need to be normalized. Metadata may be incomplete. Quality control may still be pending. Editors are left waiting – or forced to fix issues manually before they can begin.

That’s the model behind the Telestream + Mimir integration: turning ingest into the start of editorial, not a roadblock before it.

Built on Mimir’s open REST APIs with full support for Mimir’s metadata model, the integration ensures assets don’t just arrive faster  – they arrive with the context and structure required for immediate search, collaboration, and editorial use, enabling teams to move from ingest to editorial without delay.

Through automated normalization, metadata enrichment, quality control, and processing, incoming media is not only available faster but also immediately usable within the Mimir platform without additional steps or reprocessing – ensuring that content is production-ready the moment it arrives.

When content is production-ready the moment it arrives, teams can move faster, stay aligned, and keep momentum through the most time-critical workflows, whether they’re operating in the cloud, on-prem, or across both.

Broadcasters can extend existing on-premises infrastructure into the cloud without disruption, maintaining control over operations and costs while modernizing their production workflows.

How it works

The integration connects Telestream’s ingest + processing layer with Mimir’s production and collaboration layer.

  • Telestream (Vantage + Live Capture) handles capture, normalization, processing, metadata enrichment, and quality control of incoming media before it is delivered into the Mimir environment.
  • Mimir provides the cloud-native media asset management platform where teams search, review, collaborate, and start cutting as soon as content arrives – supporting “edit-while-ingest” workflows where teams can work with content and growing files without waiting for ingest workflows to complete or performing additional preparation.

For file-based contributions, Telestream Vantage workflows can automatically:

  • Normalize media into formats supported by Mimir
  • Enrich media with metadata and AI-generated information
  • Process, transcode, and quality-control assets
  • Deliver assets directly into the Mimir cloud environment

For live workflows, Telestream Live Capture enables direct contribution of live feeds into the Mimir platform – making live content accessible while it is still being recorded. Live content can be:

  • Captured from SRT, SDI, ST 2110, or other IP sources
  • Recorded and uploaded directly into Mimir storage
  • Registered with metadata and proxies for immediate editorial access

Mimir can be deployed and used independently, and supports multiple ingest and processing approaches. This post highlights Telestream as one option for teams that want a dedicated ingest + automation layer feeding Mimir with production-ready content.
